Noorserra Aryecca Armat

Ms. Noorserra Aryecca Armat or Serra as she is knowns to her friends and colleagues holds an Honours degree in Biotechnology from Monash University, Australia.

She completed her Biotechnology-Genetics Honours Program under supervision of the world renowned Assoc. Professor Robert Bryson-Richardson. She completed her thesis entitled “Tropomyosin 3 (TPM3) gene in muscle development and skeletal muscle diseases”. More specifically, she investigated TPM3 gene mutations in three skeletal muscle diseases, namely nemaline myopathy, cap myopathy and congenital fiber type disproportion (CFTD) by generating wild type and mutant TPM3 zebrafish models, characterizing the phenotype of zebrafish myopathy models, and subsequently investigating TPM3 alternative transcripts in zebrafish. At the end of her studies at Monash University, she had successfully identified four novel TPM3 transcript variants in zebrafish and concluded her thesis with the findings. 

Prior to joining Adipven, Serra worked in another IP firm in Kuala Lumpur since 2013 and has obtained wide experience in IP, particularly in patents. She sat for the Malaysian patent agent examination and passed the examination in a single sitting and she is currently a registered Malaysian Patent Agent (Patent Agent No. PA/2018/0329).

Her clientele portfolio at Adipven is mostly universities and government-owned company both from Malaysia and overseas. She drafts patent specifications for inventions from various fields, including genetics, biotechnology, biomedical science, pharmaceuticals, biochemistry, engineering as well as information and communications technology (ICT).

She conducts talks IP. She is also a lecturer for the Intellectual Property Professional Course held at one of the private universities in Malaysia. 

Fluent in English and Malay, she also speaks basic Mandarin and speak Bajau and Dusun languages (widely spoken amongst the Borneo natives).

She enjoys adventurous activities such as rock climbing, bungee jumping, paragliding and flying fox. She also like spending her leisure time singing or listening to music.
